The Department of Food and Agriculture (DOFA) is the focal point in the District, responsible for executing policies and strategies for the agriculture sector within the context of a coordinated national socio-economic growth and development agenda.
Mandate
Promote sustainable agriculture and thriving agribusiness through research, technology and effective extension services to farmers, processors and traders for improved livelihood.
Core Activities & Services
- Providing technical support, research and extension services to improve agricultural productivity.
- Supporting farmers with inputs, training and access to markets.
- Promoting food security and emergency preparedness.
- Managing five subsectors: Crops, Livestock, Veterinary Services, WIAD and Extension Services.
- Promoting sustainable land and environmental management.
- Applying science and technology to food and agriculture development.
- Coordinating with MOFA on national agricultural programmes.
