Works Department
The Works Department provides technical and engineering services for the provision, maintenance and management of public infrastructure. It comprises three units: Building Unit, Water Unit and Feeder Roads Unit.
Mandate
Provide technical and engineering services for the provision, maintenance and management of public infrastructure in a safe, cost-effective and environmentally sustainable way.
Core Activities & Services
- Policy, Planning and Technology advice to the Assembly on works-related matters.
- Facilitate construction, repairs and maintenance of public roads including feeder roads.
- Maintain public buildings: offices, residential accommodation and ancillary structures.
- Develop and maintain a maintenance plan for public infrastructure.
- Facilitate street lighting in consultation with ECG.
- Assist with water supply provision across the district.
- Advise on construction, repair and maintenance of streets and drains.
