Environmental Health & Sanitation Unit
The Environmental Health and Sanitation Unit has the mandate to ensure that all factors that tend to have adverse effects on human health in the environment are brought under control, in accordance with environmental laws.
Mandate
Assess, correct, control and prevent those factors in the environment which can adversely affect the health of both present and future generations in THLDDA.
Core Activities & Services
- Creating and maintaining a database on all premises of environmental importance.
- Inspection of all premises for state of sanitation and public health.
- Monitoring environmental sanitation facilities and activities.
- Management of complaints from the public on environmental health.
- Providing health education and promotion activities.
- Compiling and reporting problems requiring inter-sectoral collaboration.
- Monitoring burial grounds, waste disposal sites and other critical facilities.
